The Benefits of Travel Medical Insurance

Getting travelers’ medical insurance policies offers several benefits.

  • Peace of mind – Medical emergencies can happen at any time without warning. Travel insurance can provide some peace of mind knowing that your vacation budget won’t be wiped out by the unexpected cost of injuries and illnesses.

  • No need to delay care – With travel medical insurance, you can get the care you need right away, rather than waiting for treatment until you return home.

Without travel medical insurance, you are left handling these unexpected expenses independently. It could put you into debt or put your health at risk.

Health Insurance FAQS

Health insurance is a safeguard that will protect you from the full expense of healthcare and any procedures you may need. You pay a monthly premium, and in exchange, the insurance company pays for the rest of your medical fees and costs.

Although the monthly payments you’re required to make can be high, it doesn’t compare to the costs of the care you receive. Investing in health insurance can save you incredible amounts of money every year.

Open Enrollment Period is the yearly period when people can enroll in a health insurance plan or make changes to their existing plan.

Open enrollment in the individual market (on and off-exchange) runs from November 1 to December 15 in most states.

Special Enrollment Period (SEP) is a time outside the yearly Open Enrollment Period when you can either modify your current plan, or enroll in a new one. There are a few requirements that allow you to be eligible for special enrollment. They include: Losing your previous health plan, moving to a different state, getting married, giving birth, or adopting a child. You are eligible for the special enrollment for up to 60 days after the event, and you must wait until the next Open Enrollment if you don’t enroll in the specified time period.

Events that qualify:

  • Loss of coverage
  • Gaining/becoming dependent
  • Gaining access to new plans due to permanent move to NJ
  • Recently married or separated/divorced
  • Lose eligibility for APTC or CSR
  • Medicaid/NJ Family Care denial
  • Experiencing domestic violence or the desertion of spouse and offspring
