Apple Plans to Integrate Patient Data to Its iPhone

Apple plans to give patients their medical information on their iPhones

Apple plans to integrate consumers’ medical information to its iPhone.  This would include data like lab tests and immunizations.  Now, forty health systems have agreed to be a part of this idea.

"Doctors put patients in charge," Apple's news release says.

"We view the future as consumers owning their own health data," Apple Chief Operating Officer Jeff Williams, said in a recent interview with CNBC.

Giving consumers’ the power to access their own data is revolutionary.  It is giving them the security to take charge of their health data.

A credible amount of research has come out proving that there is very little risk to patients having access to their own data. This meaning that most patients will not overreact or freak out after reading their doctor’s notes and diagnoses and most can handle hearing bad news about their health.

This has been a long time coming.  Patient-driven health information economy is starting and there are no signs of stopping.
