Construction workers are less likely to have health insurance
Of the 20 professions least likely to have health insurance, 11 of them are in the construction industry, according to MarketWatch.
According to the Workers Defense Project report, they found that 40% of construction workers in Houston did not have health insurance, retirement savings, paid vacations, or sick leave. They reported that 30% of workers did not receive breaks while working and the employers did not provide drinking water on the job sites.
Fifty seven percent of the workers earned less than $15 an hour.
This report sheds a light on the pay and conditions construction workers work with especially in the south.
