Health insurance tips for freelancers

Purchasing your own health insurance can be expensive.  The last thing you want to do is research health plans.  It is confusing, tedious, and stressful.

There are ways to make health insurance less of a headache and more simple.

Here are five ways to up your health insurance game:

Take advantage of the benefits that come with your plan.

Most health insurance plans cover preventative care.  This includes your annual physicals, wellness woman exams, some lab work, vaccinations, birth control, and other routine screenings.

Save money by purchasing generic drugs when possible.

Choosing generic drugs over prescriptions drugs can save you some serious cash.  Unless you have a serious condition that requires prescription drugs, go for the generic drugs.  They can take care of your health concern and will save you money.

Get your Rx delivered right to you.

Check with your health care provider to see if they offer mail in prescriptions. Also ask if there’s an option for a 90-day prescription option.

Create a good relationship with your primary care doctor.

If you come down with a cold or sickness, visiting your primary care doctor can create a fast and easy recovery.  They can give you advice on how to get better and prescribed you medicine if needed.

Use online tools.

This tip is so important because almost all of the health care providers provide excellent online services.  There are tools, doctor searches, client portals, and blogs on health insurance advice (like Cosmo’s).

I wanted to thank you for this advice regarding health insurance. Its good to know that you should learn what is included in your insurance plans and take advantage of it, especially since a lot cover preventative care. This seems very important especially if it can keep you in good, healthy condition for a while.
