It’s the start of a new month, September and this means that the fall season is not too far away. September is known for being the month where things start to get a little chillier, leaves change colors, and scarfs are taken out again. But September is also known as Hunger Action Month in America. September is a month that is designated as a time for people to stand in solidarity and work to fight hunger.  Spread the word and take action on the hunger crisis.

Not only is this month considered a time to devote yourselves to hunger, but it is also specific to this very day. Today, September 1 is known as National Foodbank Day so today really try to commit time to aid your local food bank. The economy may be improving since the Great Recession, but the recovery is still leaving many of Americans who were hit the hardest behind. Millions of people are still struggling to get by because of underemployment, stagnant wages and rising costs of living.

Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programs that provides food and services to people each year.
