Do You Know Your Status?

No, not your Facebook Status

When is the last time you got tested for STDs?

It's an uncomfortable topic to say the least. When brought up many people feel awkward, uncomfortable and even offended.
It doesn't have to be that way. In fact, it is important for your health that it isn't that way.

The STD Surveillance of 2015 presented evidence that sexually transmitted diseases are at an all time high in the United States. Syphilis was once near elimination but now has steadily rising rates in the United States.
According to the CDC,

In 2000, syphilis reached historic lows with less than 6,000 cases reported to CDC and a rate of only 2.1 cases per 100,000 people. Compare that to CDC’s most recent STD Surveillance Report in 2015 when there were:

  • 23,872 reported cases of P&S syphilis,
  • 8.0 cases per 100,000 people, and
  • a 19% rate increase since 2014"

Between these statistics and the rise in cases of antibiotic resistant Gonorrhea, medical officials are greatly concerned.

It's easy to do your part.
