The Five Biggest Health Care Trends among Todays Health Care Consumers in America

Americans are looking for convenient health care options when they are looking for a doctor.
According to Deloitte’s 2016 Consumer Priorities in Health Care Survey, 25% of Americans currently use or have used a retail clinic, and 42% currently use or have used an urgent care clinic.

Young consumers are especially looking for more convenient healthcare rather than a long term relationship.

According to an article in C Space by Katrina Lerman, 28% of people under 35 say that they don’t have a primary care doctor, compared to 10% of people over 55.

According to Deloitte’s 2016 Consumer Priorities in Health Care Survey, personalization is a top concern for people.
People want to be understood and cared for. Doctors who personalize a visit for their patient are more likely to see that patient again.

52% of consumers report searching online for health care or wellness information, and 27.6% of younger consumers say they self-diagnose before seeing a doctor in person.

Having easy-to-access applications and technology will not only improve customer experience but also retain their current patients.

Consumers want to know everything they are getting when signing up for a health plan. The cost, the benefits, the doctors that are in network; it is all important. Being straight up with your customers will keep them happy and satisfied.

According to a 2015 study from NBER, employees generally picked health insurance plans that weren’t cost-effective based on their actual medical spending. Another recent study from C Space Health revealed that 35% of younger consumers lack information about available health insurance options and the pros and cons of each.
