A headache is an aching pain in your head, neck, sinuses, or ears that come in different pain levels and frequencies. Most often, headaches are caused by hormones, environment, diet, or mood. Observing your own personal habits can pin point the cause of your headaches.

The most common types of headaches are:

Tension headaches: These headaches affect both sides of your head and are not influenced by your pulse.

Cluster headaches: these reoccurring headaches can pop up to eight times a day. Each headache can last anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour. Some of these headaches come with some other symptoms including a droopy eye, red eye, eye tearing, and nasal congestion.

Migraines: These severe headaches cause throbbing and pulsing pain. A migraine can cause nausea/vomiting, neck pain, light and sound sensitivity. Migraines can last for days if untreated.

Secondary headache: These very rare headaches are caused by an underlying condition such as neurologic issue, fever, illness, trauma, or drug use.

Ways to prevent headaches:

What you eat can directly affect the frequency and intensity of your headaches.

Food and drinks like wine, processed meats and fish, aged cheese, salty food, MSG and aspartame, coffee, and alcohol are known to cause headaches and should be avoided.

Eat often

Skipping meals can cause exhaustion, mental fatigue, and stress. Eating small meals throughout the day can help prevent headaches.

Stay active

Keep a steady workout routine, but keep in mind that over exerting yourself can cause a headache.

Get a good night sleep

Keep a regular sleep schedule where you are consistently sleeping the same amount of hours.
